This page contains useful information for Officials / Technical Volunteers
Leander Swimming Club is always looking for new Officials, also referred to as Technical Volunteers. The process is easy and there is plenty of support available.
First you do an online course (Judge 1). This online learning is the first step to achieving Judge 1 status for swimming technical officiating. It is accessible to anyone who wants to understand the World Aquatics rules relating to swimming and the process of being a Judge Swimming Official and Time Keeper. You must be at least 15 years of age at the start of the course. After you have done the theory you become a Judge 1 Trainee. You can then officiate at galas but you will be mentored by a qualified Official. You won’t be thrown in the deep end.
You have a year to complete the practical side (plenty of time) and then you become a qualified J1.
